Showcasing the Fashion-forward Glamour of Furs

(21^st February, 2018 - Hong Kong) The Hong Kong International Fur & Fashion Fair from 21 to 24 February, 2018, an annual highlight on the fashion calendar, kicked off today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. An exceptionally all-rounded range of exhibits, ranging from raw materials to fur apparel and accessories were in the limelight. The total exhibition space reached 28,000 square meters to congregate over 180 local and overseas exhibitors from 10 countries and regions, including two national pavilions from Germany and Greece.

The star-studded evening was unveiled with the glamourous Fur Gala 2018. Hong Kong has long been regarded as the global hub of fur trading and luxury fur apparel exporter. The Hong Kong International Fur & Fashion Fair has never failed to amaze international buyers since 1982 with timeless chic and trendy innovation while Hong Kong furriers are today shipping their stylish fur accessories and apparel to over 30 countries around the world. The innovative technology, trendy style and unlimited season and age design show the endless possibilities of fur in the new generation. 

The stars shine bright as a galaxy of social elites joined this spectacular event, including Dr. Bernard Chan, Pak Li, JP, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of HKSAR Government, Mr. Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Dr. Dennis Ng, Wang Pun, BBS MH, President of The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong and Mr. Jimmy Kwok, Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries as the guests of honor, highlighting the government’s recognition for the remarkable achievements of the Hong Kong fur industry on the international stage. The gala night also saw the honorable presence of representatives from the two chambers of commerce and other business associations.

Meanwhile, Mr. Wilson Chiu, Chairman of Hong Kong Fur Federation, noted, “Hong Kong furriers’ persistence in refining their technology, craftsmanship and design in all these years continuously making this city upholding its position as the fur world’s most reputable trading partner. We are proud that ‘Fur by Hong Kong’ is now a renowned brand which stands for fashion, quality, service and reputation. We insist to inherit the fine traditions, positively face the coming challenges and consolidate global leading position. I wish we can make more achievements with the support of local and overseas business partners in the future.”

The spectacular show under the theme “Shades of White” featured a three-scene storyline presentation, which included Gradient, Grace and Glamour with 14 different

colors and impressed the audience with over 140 unique fur looks. The curtain was opened with modern life that showcased the sophisticated looks, leading audience into

stylish urban and dreamy forest. From the romantic and sporty silhouettes, to urban chic styles and gorgeous evening gowns, every piece complements modern femininity with its sensational visual effect and luxury texture. The sensational showdown culminated in incredibly dream-like world that epitomized cheerful charm of the opulent material and fur’s versatility.

Today, “Fur by Hong Kong” has become a distinguished label around the globe, synonymous with state-of-the-art technologies, unrivalled craftsmanship and original design. Revealing the latest trends of fur fashion, Fur Gala 2018 offered the perfect platform for buyers and professionals worldwide to explore new inspiration and share latest market trend with industry players. A number of buyers from 30 countries last year were the best testimony to its super trading platform in the world.

The dazzling night also saw the elegant presence of many celebrities, including Mr. Andy Wong, Ms. Grace Chan, Ms. Samantha Ko, Ms. Lily Ho, Ms. Ava Liu and Brazilian Model Ms. Bruna G Marth.
