2015 Hong Kong Fur Gala

 

HONG KONG, February 25, 2015 – Underscoring the versatility of contemporary fur fashion, Hong Kong furriers are set to dazzle worldwide buyers at Fur Gala 2015 – the annual highlight of the Hong Kong International Fur & Fashion Fair.

Adding importance to the Gala evening is the Guest of Honour – Mr. So Kam-Leung, GBS, JP; Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR Government. His remarkable presence signifies the support of the Government to the Hong Kong fur industry and recognition of the outstanding achievement of Hong Kong furriers in the global arena.

“The Hong Kong fur industry has flourished in the last few decades in becoming the premier global fur trade centre, with our Fur Fair also establishing as the most significant calendar event for worldwide buyers. Thanks to the endeavour of local furriers in pursuing excellence, as well as the support of our government, local and overseas trade bodies and business partners,” said Mr. Wilson Chiu, Chairman of the Hong Kong Fur Federation.

These attributes are under the spotlight at the Gala show. With presentation theme ‘U’ standing for ‘Fur for You’, Fur Gala 2015 proposes inspiring collections from 13 reputed local furriers in four scenes: Utopia, Upbeat, Utility and Urban@nite. A mélange of fur is accentuated with the latest techniques and colours creating eccentric visual and textural impact. Romantic ensembles, sporty co-ordinates, chic city wear and lavish evening designs all fit perfectly into the multi-faceted lifestyle of modern women.

Making a name in the global market, ‘Fur by Hong Kong’ has become a prestigious brand which stands for leading-edge technology and meticulous craftsmanship, with trendy designs interweaving new material and craftsmanship. This year, the Federation had invited valuable guests, which include Mr. and Mrs. Vladimir Anatolyevich Kalinin, Consul-General of the Russian Federation; Mr. and Mrs. Jari Sinkari, Consul of Finland; Mr. Christodoulos Margaritis, Consul-General of Greece and Mr. Nurzhan Abdymomunov, Consul-General of Republic of Kazakhstan.

For over 2,000 anticipating buyers, Fur Gala is not only the world-class extravaganza for exploring original furry thoughts, but also the ultimate hub for socializing face-to-face with VIP business partners.

    Inspired by ‘Utopia’, this lavish evening selection featuring boleros with matching shorts or flaring skirts, evening dresses and floor-sweeping coats are extensively embellished by crystals. Raccoon, mink, swakara and fox are used for some all-white designs; while beige raccoon, lynx cat and mink are juxtaposed for other harmonious variations. The lightness and transparency of organdy contrasting to luxurious fur is another highlight of the furry thoughts.
